Today Is “Weed” Day in Canada
4:20pm or 4/20 (pronounced four-twenty) is a term used in North America as a discreet way to refer to the consumption of cannabis and, by extension, a way to identify oneself with the drug subculture around cannabis. Phrases such as “420 friendly” sometimes appear in roommate advertisements, indicating that the current occupants are tolerant of cannabis users.
Mary Jane has always been popular in today’s music culture with Rock Musicians, Hip Hop artist and the like, glamorizing the drug in songs and music videos. Rap Producer and artist, Dr Dre, even titled his most memorable album to date, “The Chronic.” The drug, and yes it is a drug despite being grown on God’s green earth, is having it’s legality questioned less and less with the advent of Medicinal marijuan and as more harsher substances gain in popularity among teens and adults. Weed is legal in Victoria, British Columbia and most parts of Canada. Light up time started earlier in Santa Cruz, California.
